It seems that all the social networking sites are very busy modifying the format, and the visuals on their home pages. It's nice to have all these features, but they are running into problems with the processing power and speed of tablet computers. Is amazing how slow tablet computers operate on some of these news media sites these days, it's also happening on many social networking sites, especially smaller fast-growing ones without the data centers, or all the cached information. Okay so let's talk a little bit about this shall we?
Today, with everyone possessing smart phones and tablet computers it's going to be a real challenge in the future. The next generation of these personal tech devices will be cheaper to buy, but without the robust processing power of let's say Apple's iPad, or Apple's iPhone. Many of the sites that people will access will also not be optimized for these devices, and the advertisers will demand more software to collect data. All of that extra code can slow things down. This makes for a poor user experience.
Remember, not only is the ability of the computer, tablet, or personal tech device at issue but also there are bandwidth issues on the 3G, 4G networks, and using public Wi-Fi. If everyone is using these systems for communication, and that coupled with their slow processing power, then they will not enjoy the latest round of evolution in these technologies. This is very bad for all the new app makers, as well as all the new brilliant productivity tools designed to help people. In essence they are doing the opposite of what is intended.
Not long ago, I was on a new social networking site which was so slow, it was literally unusable. Was the problem with the website itself, was the problem with my Wi-Fi, or was there an issue with the processing speed of my tablet computer? It's hard to say, it might've been a combination of all those things, but it left a bad taste in my mouth, and has caused me not to wish to use that social networking site, or any of the tools which were offered, many of them productivity tools with huge promises to help me do all I do better.
It's good to see that Apple Computer, Intel, Microsoft, Google, and others are working on all of these issues on their devices and systems, and using their cloud data centers to burst the information on to the tablet or personal tech device faster. Still, if the users are not happy with the progress and performance of all of these apps and tools, as well as the social networks then they will migrate away from them.
Remember in today's Internet age no one has any patience at all, as they want it right now, they want it fast, and although some are willing to pay, most demand it all for free. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
