For starters, it's ultra-slim, compact and lightweight design makes it easy and convenient to move around with you. Its outer measurements are; D 6" x H 2.9" x W 4.8", and considering its size, the widescreen dimensions are generous: Diagonal 4.3" x H 2.25" x W 3.81". At a little over 161 grams, it's not just great for the car, but easily portable for slipping into a purse or pocket and taking out and about with you too. Another feature of this product that I really like, is the "Where Am I?" feature. This enables the device to calculate your exact location, and supply you with the exact coordinates, along with the closest address, intersection, hospitals, emergency areas, police and gas stations.
One of the worst things about driving when you don't know where you're going, is coming up to a turning too late to slow down safely, and driving straight past it. This GPS system will put an end to that by giving you ample vocal notice that you're approaching a turning, and letting you know how much farther you have to travel before arriving at it. All instructions regarding the user's position, or driving maneuvers he is required to make, are communicated via a discreet, internal speaker fitted within the unit.
Another big plus point is that the device comes ready to go, straight from the box, preloaded with City Navigator® NT street maps for Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the lower 48 US states. Alternatively, you could choose the area maps for one European region or country if you preferred.
In addition, there are literally millions of POI's (point of interest) marked out, which you can zoom in on and view them on two or three-dimensional maps. You want to auto-plan your route? No problem. There's a feature to help you do just that, and together with the auto re-route facility - plus a selection of routes to choose from - it's easy to plan the most direct route possible.
How about if you prefer not to drive on highways, or pay toll fees? Well, by using the route avoidance feature, you may not have to. You can alert yourself in advance to alternative routes to suit your requirements.
Whilst I'm on the subject of journey planning, I should mention the ecoRoute feature. This system works by acquiring data about your driving style over a period of time, and then using that to help you establish the shortest and most fuel-efficient route to take any time you are on the road - it also tracks your fuel usage. This not only helps to save you money, but the environment too.
