Will Video Messages Become an Alternative to Emails?

With every change in technology comes a swapping change in the way we do things. When computers and the internet gained steam the early 90s, the postal office became more and more redundant as less and less people wrote letters. E-mails became the de facto way to get in contact with people very quickly. Nowadays to get in contact with people most people use emails. However with video chatting gaining more and more steam will we soon change to video messages instead of emails?

Letters have been used since the time people where able to use ink, pens, pencils and paper. It was quite reliable and allowed you to add your personal touch and in all was a good means of communication. It however had two flaws which allowed emails to overcome it later on. First it required you to write and take your time to make sure what you're writing makes sense and conveys your message in the best way. Secondly it took way too much time to get to your correspondent. In days when there wasn't planes and cars and mail was transported by ships and carriages. It could take up to 3-6 months for your letter to get to the correspondent. Planes and cars brought down the transportation time to a matter of days but it still isn't as fast as communication should be. With emails the time delay at least was broken as emails are quite instantaneous and in a matter of seconds you can get your message to the intended party. However the personal touch of letters was kind of lost with the advent of emails. But I guess it's a good compromise for the speed emails have brought to communication relative to sending letters.

However now that more and more people video chat and more and more computers and devices have video cameras is it fair to ask for the day video messages overcome the use of emails? Like emails they are instantaneous and like letters you get personal touch and quite more than letters as your correspondent sees your face and can connect much more with it than on an email or a letter. Also it requires less effort than an email or letter as all you have to do is to turn on your camera and record and send what you have to say, that easy. However like the last two methods we have been using, it has a few flaws. The major one is the fact that it may not yet be appropriate for business as opposed to emails and letters, as well as for sending documents..

So then video messages should be something to consider to replace emails, especially in the casual sphere as it is fast, much more personal, easier and fun to do as well. It may not yet be optimized for business and official documentation but that is certainly a problem we would be able to solve in the future. What is Playsro and how do you imagine it? PlaySRO is a Silkroad Online server with thousands of members across the world, as far as i am concerned, i've meet people from USA to Koreea. If you heard of World of Warcraft then it means you know enough to play. You create a character and then start your journey across the maps in order to grow your level and get more and more experience.

Of course, there is more than that. PVP, Dungeons, Events, etc. PlaySRO has them all and to be honest the Staff does a great job with the events they are making. You can always check their events on their website.

Also, as far as i know, most of the other servers are opened by bored kids and crazy Silkroad fans. Well, this one isn't. The server is opened and managed by GoplayNetworks staff. They hold servers and administrate games since 2008 and i believe thats an experience you can only gain with....of course, time.

Regarding their website systems. That is another super cool aspect of the community. You can vote and get free silk or you can donate and they will reward your support. You also have refferal system and you get rewarded if you bring friends. The forum is easy to access and i heard they are working on their own custom template, which is cool.

Here are some server details:

- Rates: 100x for Experience, 50x for Item Drop and 17 for Gold drop.

- Server is being hosted on 3 machines somewhere in Germany from hetzner ( pro hosting )

- Weekly Events held by their GM's

- I have rarely experienced lag but thats because my ISP is weak so i guess the server has NO LAG.

I said i would talk about my favorite server but i have to say something about this new one aswell. Silkroad of Immortals. Why do i want to tell you about it?

It came recently to me that this server will be online on 1st February with a new revolutionary system for Silkroad Online called "Rebirth System". And no, its not to official version of Silkroad-R. If you take 5 minutes and read their website description which is preety vague unfortunatelly you will come to see that its a new system where you can reborn your character, just like in the old MU ONLINE game. I guess the lack of information is because they don't want to release the full ideea before they open the server, so it doesn't get stolen.

Suppose we want to find some edibles, so we try [candy]. Candy is very broad. After some thought, we change this to [chocolate candy]. This tells the SE to look for sites which mention both chocolate AND Candy. SE's assume that all words are connected with AND. We decide we would also like toffee, so we need an OR. The SS becomes [(chocolate OR toffee) candy]. The OR must be in caps with a space before and after, and the parentheses ( ) makes clear to the SE what we are OR-ing. We decide that we would like to get rid of gifts, recipes, and places to shop, so the SS becomes [(chocolate OR toffee) candy -gifts -recipes -places]. The minus, which is a hyphen with a space in front of it, to assure the SE that we are not creating a hyphenated word, says to the SE, give me nothing with this in it.

We now know how a browser can talk to a search engine (SE); how a search string (SS) controls the SE; how to do AND (nothing needed, it is automatic); how to do OR (parenthesis item OR item close parenthesis); and how to exclude (space hyphen item). The OR and exclude can be extended: [candy (chocolate OR toffee OR blueberry OR raspberry OR lemon)] and [ -gifts -recipes -places -pictures -strawberries -videos].
